The Industrial Monuments Route runs through the Silesia and connects industrial objects which were recognized as precious heritage of Silesian culture. It means that you can find there many historical sites which are connected with traditions of mining, railway, power industry, the food industry and more. Among many object there are museums, parks, workshops, working-class settlements, steel works. breweries, mines and others. The Route is one of the most interesting trails in Poland and contains 36 objects. Furthermore, since 2010, the Festival of the Industrial Monuments Route 'Industriada' has been organised in June. The event gathers many tourists. During the festival you can learn more about Silesian Industrial heritage taking part in numerous smaller events: shows, displalys, exhibitions.
The idea of the Trail is to present the Silesian heritage and provide visitors with opportunity to learn more about Silesian history, traditions and culture. Among historical monuments there can be found also contemporary sites.
In the city of Katowice there are Wilson Shift Gallery and two worker settlements: Giszowiec and Nikiszowiec Settlements. Not so far from Katowice in Radzionków you can isit the unique Museum of Bread, School and Curiosities. In Gliwice, you can find the Museum of Sanitary Technology, the Artistic Casting Department and the Gliwice Radio Station. The interesting objects are also Tyskie Brovarium and Citiziens Brewery located in Tychy. In other cities there are for instance the Museum of the Silesian Press (Pszczyna), the Central Museum of Firefighting (Mysłowice), the Drill Mine of the „Sztygiarka” Twon Museum (Dąbrowa Górnicza) or the Old factory in Bielkso-Biała.
